Phi Sigma Nu (ΦΣΝ) is the oldest and largest American Indian fraternity in the United States. Founded at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, the Fraternity has eleven undergraduate chapters and four professional chapters – with over 400 brothers representing more than 55 tribal nations.

Undergraduate Chapter

Phi Sigma Nu Fraternity Inc. is based on the moral, cultural, and spiritual values of American Indian teachings and traditions. All men, regardless of race, color, sexual orientation, or creed, are welcome to apply.

 

Eligibility requirements for Undergraduate Chapter initiation are:

  • Must not be or have been a member of another Greek Letter Organization, except those of honorary or professional nature.

  • Cumulative GPA no less than 2.3.

  • Previous semester GPA of no less than 2.3.

  • If a first semester freshman, must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA.

  • Must have completed 12 credit hours unless approved by a majority vote.

  • Must submit transcripts and a completed association application two weeks prior to interviews.

Professional Chapter

The mission of professional chapters is to establish professional networking platforms bound by brotherhood for the graduate, alumni, and professional brothers and to serve as a resource for the undergraduate chapters. We will strive to serve the community through community service and education about American Indians.

Eligibility requirements for Professional Chapter initiation are:

  • Must not be or have been a member of another Greek Letter Organization, except those of honorary or professional nature.

  • Must have been awarded a post-secondary degree from an accredited college or university.

  • And must submit a completed application two weeks prior to interviews.

Membership Dues

As a brother of Phi Sigma Nu, paying membership dues is an essential commitment that helps sustain our fraternity’s operations, events, and initiatives. These dues ensure that we continue to provide opportunities for brotherhood, leadership development, cultural engagement, and community service.

Your contributions go toward:

  • National and chapter events

  • Community service projects

  • Educational and leadership programs

  • Operational expenses to maintain our organization
